Preservation Breeders of East German Lines



MK Haus DDR is devoted to the preservation of authentic East German (DDR) German Shepherd Dogs—a lineage developed during East Germany’s Cold War military canine programs. These dogs were bred under strict selection standards where only the most physically sound, mentally stable, and capable working dogs were retained. The result was a dog of exceptional structure, strong nerves, natural drive, advanced tracking ability, and unwavering loyalty to its handler.


Our breeding program prioritizes:
• Correct DDR type and structure, including strong bone, balanced proportions, and sound movement
• Stable, clear temperaments with natural confidence and environmental resilience
• Functional working drive, not exaggerated traits
• Health and longevity, with careful selection to reduce hereditary risk
• Intelligence and trainability, preserving the dog’s original purpose


Today, MK Haus DDR is among a small number of dedicated breeders worldwide actively preserving true DDR bloodlines. Our goal is not mass production, but intentional preservation—protecting the physical soundness, working ability, and character that define the DDR German Shepherd.

Alongside our German Shepherd program, MK Haus Farms raises a select herd of Texas Longhorns bred with the same commitment to preservation, performance, and genetic quality.

Our Longhorn program is built on top-tier, proven genetics, emphasizing:
• Horn quality—length, shape, balance, symmetry, and eye-catching color
• Structural correctness, including strong feet, legs, toplines, and overall durability
• Temperament, selecting for calm, manageable cattle suitable for working ranches and breeding programs
• Color and presence, while never sacrificing function for aesthetics

A cornerstone of our Longhorn breeding program is fertility and reproductive efficiency. We prioritize cows with strong maternal instincts, quality udders, consistent calving ability, and longevity. Bulls are selected for fertility, libido, and their ability to reliably pass on desirable traits to future generations.

Our Longhorns are bred to be productive, functional, and visually impressive—cattle that perform as well as they present.

What to Expect


Exceptional Quality & Responsible Placement

As preservation breeders, we are committed not only to the animals we produce, but also to where they are placed. For our DDR German Shepherds, we carefully screen potential owners to ensure they understand the structure, training, and commitment required to properly develop these dogs both mentally and physically.

All puppies are placed on Limited AKC Registration. Exceptions may be made for proven trainers and responsible preservation breeders.

AKC registration may be upgraded by providing MK Haus DDR with:
• Passing hip and elbow X-rays (OFA or equivalent)
• A passing Embark Breeder test
